{"id":399,"date":"2020-10-25T09:49:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-25T09:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimesa.org\/nautical-science-grade-11\/?p=399"},"modified":"2020-10-25T10:19:41","modified_gmt":"2020-10-25T10:19:41","slug":"part-a-general","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimesa.org\/nautical-science-grade-11\/2020\/10\/25\/part-a-general\/","title":{"rendered":"International regulations for the prevention of collision at sea (1972): Part A &#8211; General"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>RULE 1 \u2013 Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The abovementioned rules shall apply to <strong>all vessels upon the high seas<\/strong> and <strong>in all waterways connected therewith, navigable by seagoing vessels.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Appropriate authorities may make special rules for harbours, roadsteads, rivers, lakes or inland waterways connected with the high seas and navigable by seagoing vessels, provided that such rules shall comply as closely as possible to these rules.<\/li>\n<li>Governments of states may make special rules with respect to additional station or signal lights or shapes or whistle signals for ships of war and vessels proceeding under convoy or signal lights for fishing vessels fishing as a fleet. The term \u201cvessel restricted in her ability to manoeuvre\u201d shall include but not limited to:\n<ul>\n<li>a vessel engaged in laying, servicing, or picking up a navigational mark, submarine
